BY James Wang

TipsWood pellets technology is aimed at encouraging the god use of the waste materials. By use of pellet making machine or pellet mill, wood shavings and sawdust are compressed in to pellets until they finally become wood stoves fuel.  As is the case with all the other kinds of wood, to efficiently use pellets you need knowledge of stoves. You also need to know how to properly work with them.

With pellet stove, you should obtain wood stove that is purposely designed for pellets. The pellet stoves have automatic feeder/hopper such that you do not have to tend the fire constantly. The pellet stove’s design is purposely made to extract the maximum heat efficiency amount from the pellets. Before you purchase pellet stove you should thoroughly inspect it before you purchase. You should also buy brand new stove but not that which has been used and refurbished for sale.

If your pellet burning stove is old you should upgrade it to new stove that is EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) approved.  The modern pellet stoves have catalytic combustion chamber that ensures complete fuel burning. You can install catalytic retrofit kits in to the older stove.  You should ensure that you hire experienced and licensed professional to do the job.

As regards, the storage of pellets, you should not let them get wet or damp. You should store them indoors under shed or in a garage. If you have a pelletizer you can personally make pellets. This is possible if you have access to sawdust in large quantities such as wood shop or local lumber mill.
