What Biomass Pellet Technology Offers the World

BY James Wang

Biomass pellet technology has enabled the world to revisit biomass as energy form. The introduction and use of fossil fuels made many people to overlook the importance of biomass as source of energy. The worrying trend of the increase in carbon emissions and the prices of oil and gas have highlighted the importance of biomass as source of energy. The biomass technology can cover various aspects of the production of energy. An example of this includes the conversion of biomass to gas for the running of generator for the production of electricity or the processing of biomass to produce liquid fuels that are appropriate transportation.

However, the transportation of raw materials to the pellet mill site is generally expensive and may create high amounts of emissions. In this regard, the upgrading of biomass to pellets for means of transportation means that it is possible to transport more biomass each time thus reducing the carbon output and costs.  Also, the pellets which are the core of biomass technology offer convenient option for the heating of fuel for boilers and pellet stoves. The pellets offer various advantages such as being renewable and carbon neutral.

In simple language, a pellet is original biomass material in compressed form. Although it may be biomass technology in simple form, it offers various advantages with regard to the results of combustion, transportation and handling. During the process of combustion in the form of pellet, the biomass achieves full burn at higher temperatures which leads to production of less particulates and smoke. To take advantage of this technology you should acquire a pellet making machine or pelletizer.
