A pellet mill die take materials and make it into something bigger. Pellets are created from materials of powder. Large equipment is needed to create these especially if done for commercial products.     1. Flat die mills have slots that use flat die. What happens is that the power is put on top. While the die is being rolled inside, a roller pushes the power into the holes of the die. A cutter waits at the end and cuts the pellet created from the die. This does not work as fast as the ring die; however it is known to make feeds that are smooth. The pressure can be adjusted based on the supply that is being used. Flat die is suitable for small pellet production. It is easy to maintain but at the same time, it is easy to suffer from serious wear.

    2. Ring dies on the other hand have slots that are radial around the die. The powder is put inside the die unlike the flat die mills. Once the power is inside it is spread out evenly. This kind of mill has two rollers which pushes the powder through the holes of the die in order to compress it. Instead of one, two cutters are used to remove the pellet from the die.  This is usually good to have especially for making animal feed. It does not take up a lot energy and creates large amounts. Compared with the flat die, ring die is often applied in large scaled pellet mill for it is highly-efficient and more durable.

Together with other reasons, the machine’s speed is decrease than its production is obviously less than ring pellet machine, but because of its pressure, it could highly suppress fine feed. There are many kinds of mills that can create pellets that are made of various biomass such as wood and grass. A ring die pellet mill might be the best option if you plan to produce more than 3 tons or more.
