Biomass pellets offer one great benefit in that they are an effective means of encountering threats to climate change. The successful humanity encounter with change of climate is one of the greatest challenges that the systems of biomass to energy are called to implement. Most western economies are addicted to the use of fossil fuels in the provision of domestic and industrial energy. This has been one of the leading causes of global warming that has serious consequences such as extreme weather effects and uprising of sea water levels.

The neutrality of biomass pellets with regard to emissions of carbon is no simply a matter of combustion of carbon dioxide emissions that are non-emitting. This is something that cannot be avoided in the combustion of any substance that has carbon as one of its contents. The benefits to the environment that are presented to the environment by the biomass pellets result  from  the real fact that during their production from the natural resources they tend to absorb carbon dioxide of the same quantity through photosynthesis process.

In consequence, the carbon dioxide total mass balance to the atmosphere is near zero. Even in this instance, there are various factors that should be taken in to account if stricter carbon mass balance is to be fulfilled such as energy consumption of the pellet mill or pelletizer or the efficiency of the pellet making machine. Studies have come in to the unanimous conclusion that the biomass pellets are friendlier to the environment because they emit relevant emissions less than 5%. This percentage is considerably lower as compared to the emissions from fossil fuels combustion.
